We live in the digital age, hence in fighting corona we have powerful digital infrastructure and technology at our disposal. Tech health startups are using digital technologies to identify potential corona cases, limit the spread of the disease, inform the local population or simply reassure the anxious public.

In the MENA region, two remote healthcare platforms, TakeStep (Egypt) and Al-Tibbi (United Arab Emirates) teamed up to create a free corona symptom-checker. Using the Al-Tibbi website, people can fill in the symptoms they are experiencing. The corona symptom-checker then advises whether they should be concerned and get tested, or whether they are likely to be just fine. Really handy!

In addition, their partner TakeStep, a mental healthcare startup, offers free sessions with licensed professionals for those finding it difficult to deal with the emotional impact of the pandemic. You only need to submit your phone number, and within 10 minutes a psychiatrist will call you back.

TakeStep is one of several Egyptian healthcare startups offering free mental support. Others also include RiseUp Connect and Al7arefa. So do you feel down? Do you find it hard to deal with the consequences of corona? Do not hesitate to give a mental health professional a call though any of these platforms!
